miXpost and reMixpost merge into Mick's Transmission
This is not exactly a new blog, but more like a merging between my two previous blogs, miXpost and reMixpost.
miXpost was more like a proper blog with posts and wasn't updated really often.
reMixpost was an archive of content taken from the web, from Facebook events to YouTube videos, and posted through Amplify.
Amplify has recently become increasingly unreliable, posts often fail or take a very long time, and I realised I can copy and paste basically everything from a site in the same way I did with Amplify straight on a Blogger post.
I also wanted to get rid of the name "mixpost" which looked like a clever idea at the time, but I just need something simpler and representative of the new attitude in posting stuff, which is more like sharing stuff often than writing proper posts once in a while.
So I simply imported the posts of both blogs, removing duplicates, and will keep on posting everything on Mick's Transmission.
Transmission is a good name, it gives the idea of sharing the information.
It's also one of Joy Division's most beautiful songs.
And Joy Division, AKA New Order, are my favourite band.

IL DISCO RACCONTATO DA UMBERTO PALAZZO
Ho iniziato a realizzare quest'album mentre lavoravo ad altri progetti, cioè il disco nuovo del Santo Niente e quello del Santo Nada, che è lo spin off strumentale e morriconian/messicano del Santo principale.
L'idea di base è quella di fare un disco pre-rock, se mi consenti il termine. Una specie di what if rock never happened.
Quindi, oltre alle influenze solite e inevitabili, ho preso stilemi da Morricone, dal pop italiano fine anni cinquanta/inizio anni sessanta, dalla canzone napoletana, dal pop americano pre-beatles, dalla musica greca e orientale, dal folk modale, dalla musica classica e ho cercato strumentazioni atipiche per spostare la cosa fuori dal tempo. Le percussioni sono fatte quasi tutte con pezzi di metallo, sul modello degli Einsturzende Neubauten, i synth sono alla maniera del primo post punk, le chitarre non sono mai distorte ed hanno un suono da disco pop degli anni sessanta, ci sono un sacco di strumenti strani o etnici e ho abolito la batteria di proposito per dare più spazio alla voce e all'eco e ai riverberi.
Il disco è collocato nella dimensione mentale del sogno e del dormiveglia e nella dimensione geografica di un sud puramente immaginario. E' un disco visionario e profondamente meridionale. La parola ricorrente è "controra", che è l'ora più calda del giorno, l'ora dei miraggi e delle allucinazioni, l'ora del dormiveglia agitato da sogni sensuali, l'ora in cui tutte le bestie riposano e non c'è nessuno in giro tranne il dio Pan.
Ho praticamente suonato e registrato tutto da solo. Nell'unico pezzo con la batteria c'è Gianluca Schiavon, ma non lo sa, perchè ho recuperato la sua traccia da delle vecchie registrazioni, alla viola in "Café Chantant" c'è Luca D'Alberto, nei primi tre pezzi le voci femminili sono delle bravissima Sandra Ippoliti (un talento sconosciuto) e nell'ultimo pezzo canta Tying Tiffany, che è una cara amica con la quale collaboro spesso.

Trailer di "Aiuto, orde barbare al Pratello!"
Nell'ottobre del 1991 una fatiscente palazzina di proprietà del Comune di Bologna, abbandonata da diversi anni, fu occupata da un gruppo di ragazzi e ristrutturata. I numeri civici 76 e 78 presero vita inaspettata.
Questa occupazione col tempo ha rappresentato un diverso modo di abitare suscitando grande curiosità nei cittadini del quartiere, ma anche indignazione.
Questa occupazione ha voluto mettere in discussione non solo i prezzi degli affitti, il mercato immobiliare e la politica aziendale del Comune, ma anche un modello di abitare che ci vuole produttori consumatori di merce (che sia casa, cibo o tempo libero). Questi 12 appartamenti sono stati oggetto di nuove formule di coesistenza (coppie informali, coppie che si basano soltanto sull'amore, coppie omossessuali che di fatto in Italia non sono ancora riconosciute), nonché hanno favorito una vivacità artistica ed intellettuale che col tempo si è espressa con la nascita di gruppi musicali come ad esempio i Dire Gelt, i PipiKini, i Massimo Volume, StarFuckers; ospitato artisti come Leo Mantovani, Massimo Carozzi, Mirko Donati e Christian Rainer; laboratori artistici di pittura e cabaret (Cotechino D'Oro e il Teatro dello Struzzo); gli Autocostruttori (cyber punk in azione) e il duo Pronipoti United, che hanno conquistato un sito internet attraverso il quale nel 1996 sono riusciti ad essere on line il giorno dello sgombero, probabilmente il primo intervento del genere nel mondo.
Numerose le feste in cortile, tra gli ospiti si ricordano apparizioni di Gianna Nannini, Stefano Benni, Angela Baraldi, Eva Robins, Marcella di Folco e molti altri. Nel Bar all'angolo denomitato "barazzo" non era raro incontrare importanti personalità della politica e del cinema mescolati ai "matti" del vicino centro ospedaliero , ai punk e alle normali famiglie.
Le case occupate figurarono addirittura nei libricini turistici della città.

Human League Producer Martin Rushent Dies
Martin’s son Tim announced the news on Facebook. “My father Martin Rushent passed away yesterday at his home in Berkshire,” he wrote.
“A lot of people in the industry will have memories of him (good, bad and ugly!) ... if you know of anyone who could contribute to this page that my brother set up then we'd be over the moon. (And so would he as he loved to be talked about!)”
Rushent’s daughter-in-law Wendy Swinburne wrote, ”RIP Martin Rushent, Legendary Record Producer, father of my partner and grandfather of our beautiful twin boys xxx”
Tim added, “Also ... a bit of an obnoxious twat! But trust me ... he'd love to be remembered this way!”.
Martin Rushent was a production innovator and drove the British music scene to the next level in the 80s.
While Rushent’s work with the Human League created the iconic 1981 album ‘Dare’ he had worked earlier with T. Rex, David Essex, Fleetwood Mac, Yes and Shirley Bassey.
He started to formulate his own technique in the late 70s with the emergence of punk when he worked on records by XTC, Buzzcocks and The Stranglers.
Rushent started his own label Genetic is 1980 and signed Ultravox, Visage and Spandau Ballet. It was at that time that he invested £250,000, an incredible amount of money for the time, building a studio in the Berkshire home where he died this weekend.
His work continued and reads like a ‘who’s who’ of 80s music. Rushent produced The Go-Gos, Generation X (Billy Idol) Altered Images and Hazel O’Connor.
Most recently, he produced the second album for The Pipettes. He was also working on a 30th anniversary edition of ‘Dare’.

Musica, field recordings e suoni concreti sono gli elementi che costituiscono la partitura sonora delle letture di Clementi, strutturate come veri e propri radiodrammi dal vivo.
Dall'esperienza dei reading, nel 2003, Clementi e Carozzi danno vita ad El Muniria.
Il progetto si configura come pratica musicale collettiva dove il testo poetico e la sua messa in scena sonora sono al centro della ricerca espressiva.
Costrutito attraverso procedimenti compositivi di tipo cinematografico, il suono di El Muniria accoglie differenti spunti stilistici (le ritmiche dell'hip hop più trasversale, il blues, le colonne sonore dei compositori italiani degli anni 60/70, le tecniche di mixaggio del dub giamaicano, certa oscura psichedelia, il sound design cinematografico), nel tentativo di creare una dimensione visuale dell'ascolto, dove il testo si fa sceneggiatura e la musica ne diviene la messa in scena.
Il duo realizzerà altri due reading, tratti da romanzi di Clementi, "L'Ultimo Dio", nel 2004 e "Matilde e i suoi tre Padri" nel 2009.
Nel 2007, il "San Francisco International Poetry Festival" commissiona a Clementi "Fermati Qui", un reading che passa in rassegna la sua produzione letteraria recente.
Nel 2008 esce per la Harlock/Ermitage il DVD del classico del cinema muto Menschen Am Sonntag, con la sonorizzazione di El Muniria.
Nel 2009 gli El Muniria partecipano con Is This What You Wanted, a Stranger Music, un tributo di vari artisti a Leonard Coehn.

Haçienda Records is proud to release the second Man Ray Ep “Tokyo Joe” which see’s Joy Division and New Order’s Peter Hook and production partner Phil Murphy (aka Phil Da Gap) unleash a four track Ep which crosses punk, house and indie styles in an upfront and bass driven dance tune.
A version was originally recorded for the opening of The Factory club in Manchester in February 2010 but this has been reworked and a vocal line added as well as a host of remixes being commissioned. Already being picked up by various DJ’s, this post punk, funky house crossover track is set for a much wider audience on release and dancefloor action across the better indie leaning clubs.
The Stranglers styled bassline is pure Hooky and lies at the centre of the track, having formed the prime inspiration for the tune. A surgent, driving percussive beat and a staccato guitar line compliment the bass underpinning the track with elements of synth pop also lending the track club appeal.
Remixes come from Phil Da Gap and Si Brad, Phil (Murphy) being Hooky’s long time production partner across Freebass, Man Ray and The Light. Si Brad also is highly respected Manchester based musician who has worked extensively with major artists since the early 90’s as a producer and remixer with the likes of T-Empo, Salt City Orchestra, Paper Recordings, Layo And Bushwacka and Derrick Carter. Si is much sought after on the Chicago House scene for his productions skills and deftly original touches and is regarded as one of the unsung heroes of the Manchester Dance.
The first EP track, “Tokyo Joe - Radio Edit” is the original version, re-edited and with vocals added as the anthemic keyboard and crashing percussion create a rock dance hybrid which the subsequent remixes spin off into directions of their own. Track two the “Phil De Gap” remixes takes the looping bassline and gated vocals in a bass-y, stripped down, grungey, dubbed out workout which has more than a shade of mid Eighties New Order to its soundscape.
Third track and second remix, “Tokyo Joe – Si Brad Remixed” sees Si give the record a rockier yet more tuneful treatment which gives more depth to the subtler elements which lie within. With a modern electro take and almost live feel to the mix, a fake drop mid way through gives way to an original and arresting improvisational workout as the end section which takes the track into deeper and dubbier territory.
The final EP track sees Phil De Gap and Si Brad together on production duties as a darkly indie and electroclash mood takes hold with new wave and acid house flavours thrown into the mix to create a bleep house, modern floorfiller of slightly twisted techno.
“Tokyo Joe” is the first 2011 release by Haçienda Records on its updated and revised download section at www.fac51thehacienda. With the label set to release Peter Hook And The Light’s debut EP “1102 / 2011” on early May 2011, the label is already gearing up other and new artists to publish over coming months.

Il governo ha deciso di ritirare le norme sul progetto nucleare in Italia. Questo determinerà la cancellazione del quesito referendario sul nucleare. Ma non degli altri tre (acqua e legittimo impedimento). Il passo indietro del governo (che sul nucleare sarebbe stato battuto) è la solita furbata di Berlusconi finalizzata ad abbassare l'attenzione sugli altri quesiti referendari e di conseguenza non consentire il raggiungimento del quorum necessario affinché il referendum sull'acqua pubblica e legittimo impedimento sia valido. Occorre portare a votare circa 25 milioni di italiani. Per questo dobbiamo informare tutti., farre circolare queste informazioni.
